The Most Common Excuses to Not Book a Boudoir Session...and Why You Should Stop Making Them

As a boudoir photographer, I’ve heard every excuse there is for why a woman hasn’t booked a boudoir session. I want to lose a few pounds first, lingerie isn’t my thing, it’s way too expensive. Sure, these are all valid points to consider before scheduling your shoot, but what if you stopped making excuses and just said YES for once? Said yes to giving yourself an amazing gift of self-love. Yes to putting yourself first. Yes to an entire day of pampering. If you still need a little push to visit my studio, then check out the excuses I hear most often below...and why you should STOP making them.

Excuse #1 - My body doesn’t look how I want it to.

You may not have the body of a supermodel (I mean who does?) but girl, your body has carried you through your life’s journey and that should be celebrated. Women are warriors and the scars on our bodies show the battles we’ve won. You’ll always wish you were ten pounds lighter or ten years younger, but let me be the one to remind you that you are strong and sexy just as you are. When you look back on your photos years down the road, you’ll be so grateful you captured this moment in time.

Excuse #2 - I don’t have anything to wear.

Do you have cute boy shorts? Do you own a pair of high heels? Do you see an oversized sweater in your drawer? Then this excuse won’t fly. There’s a common misconception that you have to wear lingerie in boudoir photos and this couldn’t be further from the truth. Sure, you can splurge on a sexy body suit for your session, but you can also shop your closet and find items that will make for a super steamy shoot. And if all else fails, you can always wear nothing at all and drape a sheet over your body for some classically sexy shots.

Excuse #3 - I’m not a girly girl.

The boudoir experience is not about achieving an end in which you look like a pin-up doll—it’s about capturing your beauty and power as it is right at this very moment in time. Some of my clients feel most confident in lacy lingerie while others swore off dresses and heels years ago. They’re both still sexy, powerful women. We’ll work together to create a shoot that makes you feel comfortable in your own skin and trust me, you’ll be amazed at the results!

Excuse #4 - It’s a big investment.

I get it. I really do. Women spend so much time (and money) caring for others, that when it comes to splurging on ourselves, it can be really difficult. But you don’t compromise when making an investment in your home, so why on earth would you compromise when it comes to your self-worth? This is a once in a lifetime experience and you deserve to have the best. Your newfound sense of confidence and empowerment is something you just can’t put a price on. Plus, we offer payment plans to help with this so you can treat yourself to a little love…guilt free.

Excuse #5 - I don’t have a significant other to share the photos with.

Too many people think that the only reason to book a boudoir session is so they can share it with their partner. Well I’m here to tell you that boudoir is about celebrating YOU! It’s fun to show off your photos or gift them to a significant other, but you shouldn’t let being single stop you from experiencing the power of a boudoir session. Some other great times to book a shoot are when you’re celebrating an achievement, marking a milestone, going through a hard situation—actually any time is the perfect time to celebrate with a boudoir session.
